Astral Projection is a profound experience where a part of you seems to, or actually does (depending on your personal opinion) exit your body - allowing you to travel outside yourself. For some people, this sounds completely bizarre, but for those who have experienced these dreamlike travels, they know that it's a very real and incredible sensation. In this article, we're going to talk about herbs that can aid in achieving astral projection. While there has been extensive research on the topic of lucid dreaming, astral projection (slightly different) has not been well studied and is, in large part - still a mystery. What I share here in this article comes from my own personal experience with astral projection as well as the experiences of others.
Best Herbs for Astral Projection
Mugwort.Mugwort is a well-known supplement to those that seek astral travel. It can be taken in pill form or as a tea and aids in falling asleep. But many people find that this herb also makes their dreams very vivid and creative. I personally have experienced astral projection when taking this herb and can vouch for its effectiveness. I will say though that it is definitely best to take Mugwort for astral projection about 30 minutes before going to bed. 5-HTP can be taken with it and will enhance the experience by causing a REM rebound effect, which is when your REM cycles are lengthened later in the night. If you take mugwort at night, try not to take it on an empty stomach though. Eating something small and starchy (like a potato or a banana) can dramatically enhance its effectiveness. If you are taking mugwort in pill form, I suggest taking 100 - 300 mg, although you can take more if that doesn't do it for you. Learn more about Mugwort here.
Calea Z.Calea Zacatechichi is an herb often used for astral projection and lucid dreaming, in general. It is most often taken as a tea (although it seriously tastes awful) immediately before going to bed. Some people swear by calea Z, but my personal experience with it has been quite neutral. I don't really feel much of an impact on my dreams but everyone is different and so I mention it in case it happens to work better for you.
Huperzine-A.Huperzine-A is by far the most effective herb for astral projection that I have tried, although it is much more effective if taken in combination with choline. Huperzine should be taken in the middle of the night though so you have to wake yourself up after 4 hours of sleep to take it in order to get the best results. The reason Huperzine is so effective is because it boosts the neurotransmitter ACh. It's important to keep in mind that you do not want to boost ACh early in the night. The best time to target ACh is during the later part of your sleep cycle because you'll compromise less sleep and optimize your potential to astral project. Your brain naturally decreases ACh (the neurotransmitter most closely connected to consciousness) during the first few hours of sleep and subsequently increases levels of serotonin (the deep sleep neurotransmitter). If you take Huperzine during the second half of your sleep, you are benefitting from your brain's natural sleep cycle and can greatly exaggerate its effect.
Combining herbs for astral projection:Interestingly enough, there are other herbal combinations, such as the lucid dreaming supplement - Dream Leaf, that have been designed to help induce astral projection and lucid dreaming by combining the right herbs in their proper dosages. Many Dream Leaf customers have reported experiencing astral projection or OBE's. If you have not yet taken a look, check out how it works.
Keep in mind that there are a number of other herbs and supplements that can be useful for astral projection, such as galantamine, potassium, B vitamins, lemon grass, wild celery root, and African dream root, however, the ones listed above are some personal favorites and seem to bring the best results.
